The extroverted introvert behind The Greedy Model

The extroverted introvert behind The Greedy Model

Back in May, Emma Louise Connolly - the creative behind @thegreedymodel - took over the court for our first Supper Session of the summer, cooking a Mediterranean-inspired menu of dreams.

We sat down with her afterwards to talk all things food, hosting and the contradiction at the centre of it all.

Emma will tell you, quite openly, that she's not a big socialiser. Small circle of friends, cosy nights in, home is where she'd rather be.

She'll also tell you, in the same breath, that she hosts supper clubs for a living. "An extroverted introvert," is how she settles it - and once you hear her talk about food, it makes perfect sense.

The quiet and the gathering both come from the same place.

The Greedy Model was built on that contradiction. Emma's cooking is unfussy and generous - the kind of food that pulls people to a table rather than showing off once they're there.

A Sunday roast is her benchmark for a good day: chicken, always, and a glass of wine while it comes together. "I like the dance of it in the kitchen," she says. "Lots of steps. A slow process. And then everyone gets round the table and enjoys it together." That's the whole philosophy, really, just said plainly.

Not that she's precious about it. Her guilty pleasure is pot noodle - "both my kids were basically made from them," she laughs - which sits oddly alongside her actual food memories, mostly built around holidays in Greece and glasses of QV rosé.

That same lack of pretension carries into how she spends her downtime. Ask what a perfect slow morning looks like and she'll describe coffee, a Pilates class, eggs on toast, a long walk - then admit, almost sheepishly, that it's usually the sofa and a Housewives marathon instead. "That's more me," she says.

It's the same tension as the extroverted introvert line running underneath everything: the discipline and the ease, both genuinely true, neither one winning out.

It's that same unforced hosting that carried the whole night in May - padel between courses, cocktails paired to the menu, the evening stretching long into live music and late drinks.

Up next: Supper Sessions with Sophie Gastman

Supper Sessions return on 17th September with Sophie Gastman - registered nutritionist and the voice behind @sophiethenutritionist - closing out the summer with a menu built on balance and clean, expressive flavours.

Rotating padel, a three-course supper served on court, drinks paired to the menu, live music to see the night out.

Spaces are limited. If summer's given you a taste for evenings like this, September is the last one.

See you on court.
